Stuckey, Jackson Each Score 10 for Chargers in Loss at JWCC

The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team took a lead into halftime, but John Wood came back to defeat the Chargers 42-38 on Thursday night.

Playing its first game of 2019, Sandburg (6-11) led 14-8 after a quarter and 21-18 at intermission against the host Blazers (10-5). JWCC tied the game at 32 entering the fourth and outscored the Chargers 10-6 in the final period.

Danayzia Stuckey (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) and Kennedy Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) each scored 10 points to pace Sandburg.

John Wood’s Vanessa Gajdosova led all players with 12 points.

The Chargers' next contest is 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Kishwaukee to open the Arrowhead Conference season.
